Shared Container by Sea

If you have less than a full container load you can ship your belongings using our groupage service. This is a cost-effective option that saves paying for a full container when it isn’t needed. With our reputation and scale we are able to share the container with other clients who are going to the same destination providing a very economical solution for our clients who are not shipping enough content to fill an entire container.

Are you moving the full content of your home around the world? Our dedicated container service is most likely to suit your requirements. Where possible we will load the shipping container directly outside your home to reduce the amount of handling of your belongings. THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF PROTECTION FOR YOUR BELONGINGS FOR THEIR TRAVELS

Secure packing and protection

There is an art to packing and wrapping your belongings ready to be safely transported around the world. Our team are skilled and passionate about wrapping your items and ensuring their safe arrival. Our move plans are put together to ensure adequate time is allocated to meet the standards required for wrapping items such as, furniture, light fixtures, ornaments and paintings as well as to carry out a detailed inventory of all your items that are being moved. Of course, you will receive a copy of this.

Our packing materials are carefully selected and suitable for the country that your belongings are being shipped to. We use a breathable export wrap to reduce the risk of your belongings sweating whilst in transit as well as oil-based wrapping products for oil paintings.

THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF PROTECTION FOR YOUR BELONGINGS

Your international move coordinator

Many of our clients are seasoned movers, having moved internationally on many occasions. However, for a lot of our clients their international move is a whole new experience. Whether you have moved to another country before or not, having HomesInTransit by your side you can ensure your move is being handled by removal experts who are up to date with the latest customs regulations in each country.

Your one point of contact move coordinator will be on hand to assist at all times throughout your move to ensure everything is running like clockwork. For smaller consignments we can take a detailed list of items to create your quote, however for many of our clients we offer a virtual survey using your smartphone or a free on-site survey. We will then determine the details of your move which will enable us to put together a comprehensive move plan taking into consideration the following;

Packing and unpacking

Parking suspensions/restrictions at collection and destination addresses

Specialist crates for items such as chandeliers, pieces of artwork and sculptures

Other specific requirements including, but not limited to, external cranes and stair climbers

When moving around the world, experience and communication are essential to a quality international removal service. Once en route, your move coordinator will keep you updated on the status of your consignment and what to expect next.

CUSTOMS AND CLEARANCE

Global network of partners

Customs regulations vary from country to country. Our move coordinators will guide you through the process. You will also be able to see a guide for customs clearance in your destination country on our website. We will be able to assist with all queries throughout your moving process.

In the days leading up to your consignment arriving, the local agent will be in contact to ensure that everything is in order with the correct documentation in place. In some countries, you may be required to present documentation at the Customs office in that country upon arrival of your belongings.

How long does Customs clearance take?

International Customs clearance generally takes between one and two weeks for sea freight, however air freight is typically cleared between three to five working days. This is an estimate as customs agents may decide to check containers at random. If there are any duties to be paid, you move coordinator will keep you up to date.

Once the Customs process has been completed, we are ready to make your delivery to your new property or storage location. It is important to note that this must be carried out within several days to avoid any demurrage charges.

Sometimes it’s not what you know, but who you know. At HomesInTransit we work with a multitude of trusted global partners around the world that we know share the same high-quality service and vision as us. We have built relationships with our partners over time who know how we work and the expectations of our clients which leads to an in-sync service.
